Selecting data

The Web mapping application may allow you to search and select features of interest to you. The searching tools that are available will depend on how your application is configured. Please note that the most results you can retrieve at any one time is 7000 cells. This is to keep down the workload on the server and offer a better experience to more users. The wave and wind layers both contain less than 6000 cells, but the tide layer has almost 200,000 cells!

Selecting data by query

  1. The search or find task can be displayed from the Query the Data panel in the Console.
  2. The search or find task opens in a new element window within the mapping application. Some examples of possible tasks are shown below. This element window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  3. Enter the values you want to search for in the input boxes of the task window. You can specify minimum and maximum values for each parameter. The task text should give a hint about what you need to enter to find features. If you need to reset values without refreshing the page then refer to the tables on Default query parameters. Please note that for wind, wave and tide components, the ranges are defined by minimum and maximum mean values.
  4. Click Find to start the search.
  5. The Results section expands in the Console to display results of the search (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The data searched for displays in the results item.
  6. If features are found, a table will be displayed with each selected feature in a new row.
